Inconstancy
by Eunice Favors
It took leaving everything
Before I could understand anything
Before I could realize
There is nothing you can really understand;
Even with many years of living,
Even with a college education,
Even with single parenting of two sons,
Even thinking you know some things,
Not comprehending that you don't know anything.
So what does all this realization bring you to?
Only that all of this life
Is beginning again.
And you never really know where the path is going,
Even when you thought you got there.
Nothing in life is constant but change.
