CITY 2000, X #6, December 2000
This magazine featured writing from all JOT groups held in 2000.

A unique collaboration between the Neighborhood Writing Alliance and CITY (Chicago In The Year) 2000, a city-wide photography documentary project, this issue of JOT has photographs taken by acclaimed photographers, curated by Richard Cahan, director of CITY 2000. All of the images, and all of the writing, were produced in 2000. You can purchase a copy of this issue for $5.

Excerpts from the issue are below.

Past into Future
by Michael Bowie

Leave the door open
But close the window
For this is my exit
Into the journey
Not an escape
But collecting
Resources for my reality

Not bound to a
Particular course
Unrestricted by any one
Source
But clear about direction
Knowledge of self
For this is reality's protection

Whatever I learn
I should remember to
Never forget
For lessons lost
Are a lifetime of regret.

In the Future
by Lolita Hughes

In the future
Past and present
Will be two children
Playing among the bones of the dead
They will lie like twigs on the ground
Dreams will run through these heads
Pooling in the dirt

Kissing on an apple
What do we have but the
Falling of the light
The falling of the light.
