The Neighborhood Writing Alliance (NWA) does far more than teach writing and publish a magazine. It inspires people to incorporate writing and reflection into their everyday lives and to think about the world around them. Some of the writers might have little formal education, others have been writing in secret for years, and others come to English as a second language. By espousing the idea that every person is a philosopher and providing the tools and disciplines to transform life's experience into words, NWA brings people together, provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, and encourages people to share their stories.

The Neighborhood Writing Alliance and the Journal of Ordinary Thought rely on the generosity of individuals who are committed to using the literary arts as a tool for building community and generating ideas for positive change.

Your support is crucial to our ability to host 10 weekly writing workshops, publish the quarterly Journal of Ordinary Thought, and present the writers and their work at 25-30 readings and events each year. Please join us a supporter today.
